Insulation Improvements – Main Building and Cleeve Room.

Following earlier completion of the installation of additional mineral wool insulation work throughout the main building roof area we are pleased to report that improvements to sound attenuation and additional insulation to the interior roof of Cleeve room have also been completed. This work was carried out by Messrs Contract Interior Systems Ltd and involved the installation of 100 square metres of suspended acoustical / high-insulation ceiling tiles, together with an additional 200 mm layer of mineral wool insulation located above the tiles. In order to minimise disruption to our users, the contractor kindly blitzed the job in two working days. As a result of this £6,500 investment, we shall see significant long-term reductions in our energy costs, whilst greatly improving the ambience of the interior.

Since its inception in 2006 the Trustees have invested over £120,000 on environmental improvements at the Centre. In 2011 we installed 45 solar panels, that have so far generated over 115,000 kwh of power and currently provide an annual income of around £5000. In addition, we have installed double glazing throughout the complex, installed high-efficiency gas fired boilers in the main building and Cleeve room, installed LED low-energy lighting throughout, together with major insulation improvements to the walls of Cleeve room and ceiling areas throughout the complex.

In the longer term the Trustees will be investigating options for extending our Solar Panel systems to the roof areas of Cleeve room and the Town Council Offices and incorporating battery storage technology to further reduce our energy costs.
