John Gerrard Retires As Chairman – A Huge Thanks To Him!

This month saw John Gerrard retire as Chairman of Abbeyfields, after giving the hall and the community so much of his time and care for all these years. John and his wife Jennifer moved to Winchcombe after their retirement and John was one of the original groups who put together the project to convert the derelict school in to our community centre – in the face of a good deal of scepticism! John was one of the leading figures among the Trustees of Abbeyfields, successfully applying for a lot of the grant funding that got Abbeyfields community centre established. He was responsible for the installation of the solar panels on the main building and this has been a major income source for the past 12 years. He was also responsible for the project to transform the former school canteen into what we now know as the Cleeve room. There’s no doubt that Abbeyfields community centre owes a massive debt to John and we all thank him for everything he has done.

Our new Chairman is Paul Clark (Pictured below with John) and we wish him all the best in his new role!
