Dance With Parkinsons

Dance With Parkinsons

All classes are run by our trained BeSocial@theCentre Community Dance Lead, Sarah Hartley.

Keeping active is an important part of managing Parkinson’s disease. It is generally believed that the more you move, the more you CAN move. The sessions are a great way to help as they focus on balance, co-ordination and fluidity of movement. A dedicated voice section also helps strengthen the vocal chords and maintain a good vocal range. The group is taught fun and uplifting sections from various songs.

The sessions are mainly seated and people can go at their own pace. There’s 15/20 minutes of standing/travelling work, which is also adapted for those who wish to stay seated.

The classes cover a range of dance styles and the most important thing is to enjoy it!
